But since we all know Don King is one of the most persuasive boxing promoters in the world this fight was destined to happen, much to the delight of boxing betting everywhere. “We stayed up for a straight 24 hours talking about all the different things, and he had his lawyers,” King said. King knows this fight is a great payday for Kotelnik, and if he manages the underdog victory he will be lining himself up for another big payday. The 32-year-old Kotelnik, a 2000 Olympic silver medalist, won the WBA light-welterweight title in March 2008 by beating Gavin Rees. He had two successful defenses, outpointing Norio Kimura and Marcos Rene Maidana, but lost the title to Amir Khan in July 2009. The contract signed Tuesday holds Kotelnik to six fights in the next three years. Fighting Kotelnik will be a good test for Alexander, he might eventually win but it won’t be easy. Some fans do believe Alexander is all of that, but that exactly what they first thought about Pavlik. Alexander will only prove himself among the best if he take care of whoever is brought to fight him, and Kotelnik is not a walk on the park and Alexander should take him very serious.
